Jon Lester is ready to take on all comers with the Chicago Cubs — including “the dreaded Sports Illustrated cover jinx.”

The new Cubs pitcher was introduced to Cubs fans and the Chicago media Monday at a news conference. On Tuesday, SI revealed that Lester — wearing his new Cubs hat and uniform — will be on the magazine’s cover this week.

“The lure of bringing the World Series to this town and this team really interested me and my family,” Lester told Sports Illustrated.

Lester also talked about the Cubs’ pitch to the left-handed ace.

“I don’t really want to say it was a sales job, because I really believe what they believe, that this could be the next dynasty over the next six, seven, eight, nine years,” he said. “I think I’m pretty good at knowing when it’s somebody you can believe or when you can see through the BS. I felt like there was no BS.”
