BOSTON — The Bruins trimmed the Chicago Blackhawks’ lead to one Thursday night thanks to one heck of an effort by Milan Lucic.
With Boston trailing 3-1 midway through the third period, Lucic gathered the puck near the Bruins’ blue line, motored past Patrick Sharp, maneuvered around Michal Rozsival, absorbed a hit from Klas Dahlbeck and fed a trailing Torey Krug for the goal to cap off a highlight-reel sequence.
As you can see in the GIFs, Lucic was leveled by Blackhawks agitator Andrew Shaw after he released the puck, sparking a wild scrum that included a fight between Shaw and Bruins center Chris Kelly.
Bruins fans seldom see Kelly drop the gloves; in fact, the B’s alternate captain has fought just seven times in his 11-year NHL career, according to HockeyFights.com.
Boston ultimately could not push the equalizer past Chicago netminder Scott Darling, however, allowing the Blackhawks to leave TD Garden with a 3-2 win.
