The Boston Red Sox have punched in. It’s time to get to work.

The 2015 Major League Baseball winter meetings kicked off Monday in San Diego. The Red Sox figure to be among baseball’s busiest teams this week, in large because Boston desperately needs to add to its starting rotation.

Clay Buchholz and Joe Kelly can be penciled into the Red Sox’s 2015 rotation, but the rest of the unit is filled with question marks. It’s abundantly clear the Sox need to do some moving and shaking before Opening Day, and this week’s meetings mark the perfect opportunity to do some heavy lifting, whether it be through trades or free agency.

Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington last week didn’t rule out adding two starting pitchers. It’s unclear at this point who those starting pitchers will be, but the Red Sox have a plethora of options. They also have a ton of flexibility, both financially and talent-wise.

Jon Lester is the biggest name connected to the Red Sox, and Boston certainly would love a reunion. There are other starting pitchers worth targeting, though, so let’s see which hurlers could cross Boston’s mind this week.
