MILWAUKEE — A person with direct knowledge of the situation says Milwaukee Bucks rookie Jabari Parker will miss the rest of the season with a left knee injury.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to make an announcement before Wednesday.

Parker hurt the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in Monday night’s win at Phoenix. It’s a huge blow for a rebuilding franchise off to a good start under new coach Jason Kidd.

The Bucks, who won 15 games all of last season, are 13-12.

Parker was hurt when he took an awkward step before colliding with the Suns’ P.J. Tucker. Parker, the second-overall pick in this year’s draft, averaged 12.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this year.

ESPN first reported the forward’s injury.
