Report: Rex Ryan To Interview With ESPN After Being Fired By Jets

If you thought you were done hearing from Rex Ryan, think again.

Ryan, who was fired by the New York Jets on Monday, will meet with ESPN executives Tuesday to discuss a possible role with the network in case he doesn’t land another head coaching job, according to The New York Daily News.

Ryan said last week he thinks he’ll someday win a Super Bowl as a head coach, so it’s clear he stills considers coaching a top priority. He might be hard-pressed to find a head coaching gig, however, as the Jets underperformed the last four seasons after back-to-back trips to the AFC Championship Game in 2009 and 2010.

The Jets went 4-12 this season, causing owner Woody Johnson to fire both Ryan and general manager John Idzik on Black Monday. Ryan probably would have no trouble finding a defensive coordinator job elsewhere, but he reportedly doesn’t want to go that route.

Ryan always has had the gift of gab, so perhaps the whole TV thing isn’t such a bad idea.
