Reports: Red Sox’s Brock Holt Drawing Trade Interest From Angels

The Los Angeles Angels evidently were paying attention this season.

The Angels have expressed interest in Boston Red Sox utility player Brock Holt, according to ESPN.com’s Gordon Edes. Holt is coming off an impressive season in which he flashed remarkable versatility.

The Los Angeles Times’ Mike DiGiovanna also heard the Angels are interested in Holt, noting the Halos have relievers to trade if they indeed are looking to strike a deal. MLB.com’s Alden Gonzalez reported Tuesday that Los Angeles likes Holt but that Boston’s asking price currently is too high.

The Angels currently have Howie Kendrick, David Freese and Erick Aybar penciled in at second base, third base and shortstop, respectively. Los Angeles reportedly would like to add infield depth, though, and Holt certainly would provide that while also being able to play the outfield if necessary.

Holt played every position except for catcher and pitcher in 2014. The 26-year-old hit .281 with four homers, 29 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and a .331 on-base percentage.

Holt was a bright spot for Boston amid an otherwise disappointing season.
