Tom Brady: Jim Harbaugh To Michigan Would Be ‘Incredible, Phenomenal’

Michigan reportedly hiring Jim Harbaugh as the football program’s next head coach might kill two birds with one stone for Tom Brady.

The New England Patriots quarterback would like to see his college program return to form, and it can’t hurt to take a quality head coach out of the NFL equation. Harbaugh led the San Francisco 49ers to a 44-19-1 record — including a 2012 win over the Patriots at Gillette Stadium — with three conference championship appearances and a Super Bowl loss.

The Wolverines went 5-7 in 2014 under head coach Brady Hoke, who was fired earlier this month.

“Obviously the program at Michigan — as a former player — has not been in the best of places for one reason or another,” Brady said Monday on WEEI. “If (Harbaugh) does go there, he brings a lot of credibility and winning. He’s been a great coach in college and the pros. To have a great coach like that lead a program is awesome. â€Ĥ If Michigan could get that type of coach it would be incredible, especially with him knowing the history of the school and the tradition, playing there. Just to have him back as part of the school would be phenomenal.”

After wrapping up his career as an NFL quarterback with the Chicago Bears, Indianpolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and San Diego Chargers and before joining the 49ers in 2011, Harbaugh coached the University of San Diego and Stanford University. He had a combined record of 58-27 with the two programs.
