Tom Brady Worked Through Patriots’ Victory Monday: No Days Off For A QB

FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady might earn employee of the month for how he spent the New England Patriots’ “victory Monday” off day.

He worked through it.

“All day. It’s just that time of the year,” Brady said Wednesday. “I don’t think there are any off days — maybe in the Collective Bargaining Agreement but not necessarily in a quarterback’s preparation. I do a lot of work, and I enjoy it, so that’s the easy part. I get to do something I love to do.”

Brady was hard at work preparing for Sunday’s home game against the Miami Dolphins, who beat the Patriots in the season opener at Sun Life Stadium.

“We’re definitely watching that game,” Brady said. “You end up watching all the games just because all of them can provide some insight. Certainly, that game can provide a lot of insight, but our team is a little bit different now. There are going to be some new things that we do. I’m sure they’re going to have some new things. Ultimately, it comes down to how well we execute.

“They force you to do a lot of things really well, so it tests everything. I think they blitz a lot, they cover well, they rush (well), they score points offensively, so we know we’re going to have to score a lot of points. But this team makes it tough. They’ve got some great edge rushers. They’ve got some great inside guys to stop the run, (they’re) good at safety. I know they’ve been banged up this year, but it looks like they’re all healthy now. We’re preparing for their best, and I’m sure we’ll get it, so we have to be prepared.”

The Patriots have a chance to clinch the AFC East title Sunday for the 12th time in Brady’s career. The quarterback said head coach Bill Belichick hasn’t mentioned that to his team yet.
