The Chicago Bears’ nightmare season continues.

Cornerback Tim Jennings was arrested in Gwinnett County, Ga., on Wednesday on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and reckless driving, according to the Chicago Tribune, which obtained a copy of the police report. The 31-year-old was stopped for speeding after an officer recorded him going 99 mph in a 65-mph zone.

According to the report, Jennings told police he was speeding because “I have somewhere to be and am running late.” He later divulged to officers that he was late for his child’s parent-teacher conference.

During the stop, police also smelled alcohol on Jennings’ breath and noticed he had “slightly bloodshot watery eyes,” according to the report. Jennings maintained that he was not under the influence, telling the officer he had stopped drinking about 10 hours before then, around 2 a.m. Jennings refused a breathalyzer before his arrest, according to the report, telling the officer, “I am not blowing into that damn thing, sir.”

Jennings eventually was arrested and taken into custody before being released on bond.

The Bears issued a statement Wednesday, saying: “We are aware of the reports regarding Tim Jennings’ arrest. We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the situation.”
