Bill Simmons Takes Shot At Ray Lewis Over Patriots DeflateGate Comments

Ray Lewis ticked off Bill Simmons, apparently.

Lewis suggested during Sunday’s NFL Pro Bowl pregame show that there should be an asterisk next to the New England Patriots’ name if they defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. Simmons, clearly not agreeing with Lewis’ take on DeflateGate, responded in a big way via Twitter on Tuesday.

Simmons, who, like Lewis, works for ESPN, posted the following tweet along with the ensuing photo. The photo of Lewis with antlers is a reference to the allegations that the former Baltimore Ravens linebacker used deer antler spray — a substance banned by the NFL — in his injury recovery leading up to Super Bowl XLVII.

“So we’re at a place now where we’re going to celebrate an organization once again, put an asterisk by it, because they went into a championship game,” Lewis said Sunday while discussing the DeflateGate controversy. “The integrity of this game! That’s not the way you go into games trying to win football games.”

Lewis, a two-time Super Bowl champion, also made headlines a couple of weeks ago for a comment regarding Tom Brady and the “Tuck Rule.” He later clarified his controversial opinion via Twitter.
