Residents of Boston and the surrounding communities will have an opportunity to voice their opinions on the city’s 2024 Summer Olympics bid.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh promised Thursday to hold nine community meetings to discuss the bid for the games. He said the Boston committee would come “in every neighborhood, in every corner of the city, to talk to every resident about every detail,” according to The Boston Globe.
Walsh also said in a press conference Friday morning that some of the venues for events and other infrastructure would be located outside the city.
Boston won the right to represent the U.S. in the bidding, but there will be worldwide competition to host the games. Paris, Rome, Berlin, Budapest and Istanbul, as well as cities in Qatar Azerbaijan, are vying for the right to host.
The dates and locations of the meetings, according to a press release:

— March 31, 6:30 p.m., Harvard Business School
— April 12, 6:30 p.m., Roxbury Community College, 1234 Columbus Ave., Roxbury
— May 19, 6:30 p.m., Cleveland Community Center, 11 Charles St., Dorchester
— June 30, 6:30 p.m., English High School, 144 McBride St., Jamaica Plain
— July 28, 6:30 p.m. , Mildred School, 5 Mildred Ave., Boston
— Aug. 25, 6:30 p.m., Orenberger School, 175 West Boundary Road, West Roxbury
— Sept. 29, 6:30 p.m., East Boston High School, 86 White St., East Boston
