It’s no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t love sharing the limelight with Lionel Messi, but we don’t know how he feels about sharing the affections of his only son with his greatest rival.

Ronaldo introduced his four-year-old son, Cristiano Jr., to Messi on Monday in Zurich in the backstage area of the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala. Ronaldo was sitting down as Messi entered the room, but Cristiano Jr., excitedly ran to the door and greeted one of his heroes.

Messi rubbed Cristiano Jr’s head and asked, “How are you doing? How’s it all going, good?”

Cristiano Jr. barely could muster a response, so his father admitted to Messi that he’s a big fan of his.

“He’s always watching internet videos of us and speaks to me of you,” Ronaldo said.

“And now you’ve gone shy?” Messi said to Cristiano Jr.

Either Ronaldo’s admission is the start of a real friendship between the soccer world’s two greatest players, or it simply kills the Portuguese superstar on the inside just a little bit.
