Merrimack continues to take care of business outside of the Hockey East.

The No. 20 Warriors (13-6-2) scored two goals in the third period to surge to a 3-1 win over No. 12 Quinnipiac (15-8-1) in Hamden, Conn., on Saturday night. Merrimack has just two losses  outside of its conference this season.

Forward Brett Seney opened the scoring for the Warriors by scoring at the 12:34 mark of the first period. Quinnipiac’s Sam Anas knotted the score with less than two minutes to go in the period, and neither team lit the lamp in the second frame.

Six minutes into the third period, though, Seney struck again, as his centering pass deflected off a Bobcat defenseman to put Merrimack up by a goal. Forward Hampus Gustafsson added an insurance goal with under three minutes to play to seal the win.

The Warriors hope to turn their Hockey East fortunes around Wednesday when they battle No. 17 Boston College at Kelley Rink in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
