Trailing the New England Patriots by four points late in the fourth quarter, the Baltimore Ravens had a long way to travel if they wanted to come out on top.

That said, we think NBC might have exaggerated a bit.

The Ravens were called for a block in the back on a kickoff return after a Patriots touchdown, and according to the television broadcast, it set them back A LOT.

Thirty-six-mile penalties aren’t going to win ballgames, you guys.

Fortunately for NBC, there is an explanation, as the penalty was assessed to Baltimore’s Jeromy Miles, who wears No. 36.

A penalty for 36 miles would have put the Ravens somewhere north of the Mass Pike, so it’s a good thing the refs decided to go with the usual 10-yard variety.

Baltimore still couldn’t bridge the gap, though, as Duron Harmon intercepted Joe Flacco later in the drive to help New England clinch a 35-31 win.
