It’s no secret that Major League Baseball would like to speed up the pace of games. Some major changes could be on the horizon.

Sources told FOX Sports that MLB owners are discussing pace-of-play changes with the players’ union. It’s unclear if/when those changes will take effect at the major league level, but a 20-second pitch clock reportedly will be implemented at Double-A and Triple-A in 2015.

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi report that owners could vote to approve a particular course of action at their meetings in Phoenix on Thursday, though no changes would become official until the union approves. According to Rosenthal and Morosi, the exact proposals for big league changes in 2015 are unclear at this point.

A source told FOX Sports that baseball will enact other changes in the minors that it recently tested in the Arizona Fall League. Such changes in the AFL included a rule requiring a hitter to keep one foot in the batter’s box, a time limit on pitching changes and a limit on breaks between innings.

News of the potential pitch clocks at Double-A and Triple-A was first reported by Robert Murray of MLBDailyRumors.com.
