No matter where Kevin Love goes this NBA offseason, he won’t necessarily be staying there for very long.

The Cleveland Cavaliers big man reportedly won’t sign a long-term contract anywhere after this season is over, per Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal. The league struck a monster TV deal with ESPN and Turner in October, and the salary cap — including the maximum salary — is expected to rise significantly once it kicks in come 2016.

Love can opt out of his contract at the end of this season. When the Minnesota Timberwolves traded him this past offseason for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round pick, Love reportedly said he would opt out and commit to a long-term deal with the Cavs.

Now, even LeBron James said last month that his tenure in Cleveland could be short-lived if the season doesn’t shape up.

After shaking up the team for what seemed to be the better this summer, the Cavs sat at 19-18 and fifth in the Eastern Conference ahead of Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
