Regardless of whether the Seattle Seahawks win Super Bowl XLIX, Richard Sherman could have something to celebrate after Sunday.
The Seahawks cornerback’s girlfriend, Ashley Moss, is expecting their son within the week, though they’re hopeful that the little guy will be able to wait. According to ESPN, Sherman said Wednesday that a recent doctor’s visit made the couple believe their child won’t be born in the next few days.
Moss is in Arizona ahead of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl matchup with the New England Patriots and will give birth at a local hospital if need be. But if their son arrives Sunday, Sherman will have a big decision to make.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” Sherman said, per ESPN. “We’re not thinking about the possibility.”
Still, the idea of becoming of father is lighting a fire under Sherman for Sunday.
“It’s someone that actually depends on you for everyday living,” Sherman said. “Everything they do is dependent on you and how you provide and how successful you are.
“As a parent, you want to set a great example for them, so I guess, to a degree, a lot of things are riding on it.”
