Alex Ovechkin went there.
The Washington Capitals superstar fired back at Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf on Tuesday, and he hit him where it really hurts: his hair. Ovechkin’s sick burn comes two days after Getzlaf accused Ovechkin of diving “all over the (expletive) ice” following the Caps’ 5-3 win over the Ducks.
“Maybe he’s just jealous. I have hair, he don’t have hair,” Ovechkin said, per Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post. “We can start talking about it all day long. I think it was comment because he was disappointed they lost. Again, it is what it is.
“I don’t think somebody can call me diver in this league, but how I said, maybe he’s disappointed in all the kind of moments that happen.”
While Ovechkin has been known to embellish from time to time, Getzlaf’s frustration with the Caps star might have something to do with the fact that his Ducks have dropped six of their last nine games.
Besides, Ovechkin might win the hair battle, but Getzlaf wins the Stanley Cup war.
