BOSTON — Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel was ejected in the first period of Tuesday night’s game at TD Garden after cross checking Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid under the chin.
McQuaid skated toward Roussel and attempted to throw a huge hit and missed. He dropped his gloves anticipating a fight, but Roussel decided to deliver a high cross check instead.
Roussel was given a five-minute major penalty for cross checking in addition to his game misconduct. McQuaid was able to get up under his own power and skate down the tunnel.
The Bruins didn’t capitalize on the power play and gave up their first shorthanded goal of the season when Vern Fiddler scored on a breakaway.
