You didn’t really think Bill Belichick would let down his guard after winning the Super Bowl, did you?

The New England Patriots head coach said his piece on the whole DeflateGate controversy weeks ago and pretty much has shut down all subsequent questions. But perhaps, just maybe, he’d let something slip in the relaxed atmosphere of an upcoming appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman.”

Well, CBS released a two-minute preview ahead of Wednesday night’s show, and let’s just say Belichick didn’t exactly clear the air.

OK, so that was less a conversation than it was Belichick responding to Letterman — who runs the gamut on the crazy conspiracies surrounding what actually happened in DeflateGate — with a series of semi-audible grunts.

On the bright side, at least Belichick smiled when he shut Letterman down. He even worked in a zinger about bringing the talk show host in to testify in the NFL’s investigation, which for Belichick is the equivalent of a 30-minute, profanity-laced diatribe.

The full show airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on Wednesday, and judging by that clip, it’s going to be can’t-miss television.
