Eden Hazard has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s best players. Chelsea now is paying him like one.

Hazard signed a new, long-term contract with Chelsea on Thursday, the club announced on its website. Hazard’s new deal expires in 2020 and pays him around £200,000 per week or £10.4 million ($16 million) per year, according to multiple reports.

Hazard has scored 43 goals in 147 games since joining Chelsea from French club Lille in 2012. He has 13 goals in 36 games this term, powering Chelsea to the top of the Premier League standings. The Belgian winger is delighted to commit his future to the Blues.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,” Hazard said. “Since I came here in 2012 I have always felt good and the club has been very supportive to me.

“The manager has helped me improve a lot, the fans have been fantastic and I have an amazing understanding with my team-mates.

“I always try to give pleasure to the supporters with my style of play and it is nice to know they appreciate my work.

“I hope we can repay that support by winning lots of trophies, beginning with the Capital One Cup at Wembley, and after that, we can push hard towards the end of the season.”

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho tips Hazard, 24, to become the top player in the world in the coming years.

“He is already a top player and his evolution has been fantastic,” Mourinho said. “He is still very young and he can become the best.”

Hazard’s previous contract expired in 2017. Many speculated in 2014 that Paris Saint-Germain would make a blockbuster bid to lure Hazard back to France. Hazard tried to quash the rumors with his words. He did so Thursday with the stroke of a pen.
