Forget “Winter Is Coming.” Winter is here, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon.

The New England region has been hammered with some downright arctic weather in recent weeks, receiving massive amounts of snow and plenty of hassle.

The New England Patriots’ season is over, so the team doesn’t have to battle the elements at Gillette Stadium. Which is good, because it appears its home turf has been transformed into an icy nightmare landscape straight out of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

This comparison is way too accurate, especially when you consider “The Wall” in the “Game of Thrones” television series is a 700-foot-high colossus that borders an apocalyptic frozen tundra inhabited by bloodthirsty wildlings. But that’s just us.

Of course, Gillette isn’t the only stadium in the region feeling the full effects of winter, as recent images of Fenway Park buried in snow have Boston Red Sox fans clamoring for sunnier days.
