Stars Troll Bruins With Ric Flair GIF After Empty-Net Goal Clinches Win

The Dallas Stars were stylin’ and profilin’ as they got ready to go jet flyin’ Tuesday night.

The Stars came into Boston and came away with an impressive 5-3 win over the Bruins, their first win at TD Garden since George W. Bush’s first term in office. They felt pretty good about themselves, too, if the team’s Twitter feed is any indication.

Just after Stars forward Erik Cole scored one of the weirdest empty-net goals you’ll ever see, the Stars social media folks wasted no time taking a little dig at the Bruins. The Stars tweeted this moments after the game-clinching goal.

That, of course, is professional wrestler Ric Flair, who’s known not only as a 16-time world champion but one of the most over-the-top personalities in the history of the business. Flair’s trademark “Woo!” has been a Garden staple for years. A cut of the “Woo!” plays at the completion of every Bruins goal announcement at home games.

This is far from the first time the Stars have trolled the opposition and its fans. The Stars’ in-game video screen gags have become a running thing, like when they tweaked the Maple Leafs by putting Justin Bieber’s mug shot on the screen during a game and also putting up video of disgruntled ex-Toronto mayor Rob Ford.
