Bill Belichick: ‘Disappointing’ NFL Can’t Afford More Cameras For Replays

The NFL can pay commissioner Roger Goodell north of $30 million, but it can’t afford to put more cameras on the field.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick broke his monotonous answer streak Tuesday at the NFL Annual Meeting when asked about his playing rule proposal to put fixed cameras on all boundary lines, which has been denied by the league for years as being too expensive.

“It’s disappointing every year we can’t afford that, as a league,” Belichick told reporters. “They brought that up as a concern. It was kind of surprising to hear that.”

The idea behind putting cameras on all boundary lines is so the NFL doesn’t have to rely on the broadcasting network to provide camera angles on replays.

It’s no wonder why Belichick says he doesn’t take away much from the NFL Annual Meeting. Belichick did decide to show up for Monday’s annual coaches photo, but does that mean he’ll appear in “Madden 2016”?

“I don’t know,” Belichick replied. “You’ll have to ask John about that.”
