Carey Price typically doesn’t show much emotion when he’s on the ice, but one young fan recently brought out the softer side of the Montreal Canadiens goaltender.
Trent Leon, a shy youngster from Price’s hometown of Anahim Lake, British Columbia, flew nearly 3,000 miles to Montreal to meet his idol face-to-face and to deliver a touching gift to him back in January. Leon is a participant in one of two breakfast club programs Price launched at local schools last year and was the lucky one selected to represent Anahim Lake Elementary-Junior Secondary School to visit with the goaltender.
After meeting the Vezina Trophy front-runner and receiving a Canadiens jersey from him in the team’s locker room, the two ventured out to the ice where he got the opportunity to shoot some pucks on Price. But Leon had a little something else up his sleeve for Price. He surprised Price with a number of hand-written thank you cards from Leon’s classmates, thanking the goalie for all he’s done for them.
The incredible gesture left Price touched and teary-eyed.
