The San Francisco 49ers already might be having buyers’ remorse about Colin Kaepernick.

Jayson Braddock of KBME-AM in Houston reported Sunday night that the 49ers are shopping Kaepernick.

Forbes NFL business writer Vincent Frank confirmed through “connections” the report that Kaepernick was on the trade block. According to Frank, the 49ers aren’t convinced Kaepernick is the guy for the position moving forward now that coach Jim Harbaugh is gone.

Braddock later reported that the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears are two teams that could be interested in Kaepernick.

However, the 49ers quickly shot down the reports, as general manager Trent Baalke wasted no time in declaring them untrue. In fact, Baalke and the Niners even released a statement late Sunday night.

“Colin is our quarterback and we are excited to have him,” Baalke said in the statement, according to CSN Bay Area. “He is not going anywhere. The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit and, quite frankly, ridiculous.”

Kaepernick had the worst season of his young career in 2014. The 49ers missed the playoffs for the first time since he took over as starting quarterback, finishing the season with an 8-8 record. Kaepernick posted just an 86.4 passer rating with 19 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He wasn’t helped much by his offensive line, though, as he was sacked 52 times. Only Jacksonville’s Blake Bortles (55) was sacked more.

Kaepernick signed a six-year, $126 million contract extension with the 49ers less than a year ago.
