DeMarco Murray’s Production Could Take Hit With New System, Workload In Philly

DeMarco Murray had a record-setting season in 2014, but it’s unlikely he’ll be able to replicate those numbers in 2015.

The running back is now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, and that could mean he’ll see a drop-off in production from last season where he rushed for 1,845 yards on 392 carries, both league-high figures.

That’s in large part because things are much different in Philly than they were for Murray as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Ex-NFL quarterback Brady Quinn did some forecasting at FootballByFootball.com, and Quinn thinks a new system and a potentially lighter workload could lead at least to fewer rushing yards for Murray.

“The hope here is that Murray will bring a blend of attributes and be able to do many of the things required in (head coach Chip) Kelly’s offense, but to this point, Murray isn’t an exact comparable runner to anything Chip’s had in the past,” Quinn wrote.
