Hey, it was a good day to throw a line in the water.

Several Boston Red Sox players remained at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers for a workout Sunday while the rest of the team traveled to Port St. Lucie for a Grapefruit League game against the New York Mets at Tradition Field. Some of those who stayed back capped their day with a random fishing adventure.

Dustin Pedroia, Mookie Betts, Mike Napoli, Hanley Ramirez, Shane Victorino and Garin Cecchini were among those who went fishing on a pond behind Field 5 at Fenway South, according to The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham. A security guard told Abraham there weren’t any fish in the man-made pond — just turtles — but it’s obvious this was about a few guys messing around and building chemistry.

Betts and Napoli reportedly supplied the fishing rods. Pedroia and Victorino donned big hats. The group set out on two golf carts for what surely was an eventful expedition.
