Rex Ryan Still Obsessed With Chasing Patriots: ‘We’re Coming For Them’

Rex Ryan can’t help himself. If you ask him about the New England Patriots, he’s going to answer.

The new Buffalo Bills head coach has a new gig and a new address, but he’s driven by the same things he was driven by as head coach of the New York Jets. Anything less than a Super Bowl is going to be considered not good enough, and the Patriots remain his No. 1 target.

Speaking at the annual coaches breakfast in Phoenix on Tuesday, Ryan wasn’t going to shy away from talk about expectations for his team. As is always the case, Bill Belichick and the defending Super Bowl champions are in the cross hairs.

“They’re clearly the team to beat, and we’re coming after them,” Ryan proclaimed, according to ESPN.com’s Mike Rodak.

Ryan’s hopeful the Bills — with the addition of Ryan and a few big moves this offseason — have gotten closer to the Patriots, especially considering New England’s already lost All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Jets this offseason.

“I hope (the Bills have closed the gap on the Patriots),” Ryan told NFL Network. “When you’re the world champs, you’re not going to get better. They lost some good players so hopefully we have closed the gap. Guess we have to find out.”

As is always the case with Ryan, the talk sounds good, but it won’t mean anything until his team can prove something on the field.
