Senators, Ottawa Media Poke Fun At ‘Cocky’ Bruins For Selling Playoff Tickets

The Boston Bruins this week did what most teams in the Stanley Cup playoff hunt do late in the season: They announced playoff tickets soon would go on sale.

Ottawa hockey fans apparently thought this was strange. The Senators, who until this weekend held the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot, also have playoff aspirations and could pass the Bruins for the spot.

TSN’s Ian Mendes wondered if the Bruins’ playoff ticket sale would be bulletin-board material for the Senators or even the Florida Panthers. The Senators’ official Twitter account took notice and offered this “cart before the horse” Photoshop job.

Get it? The cart — a Bruins cart — is being put before the horse.

The Ottawa Sun also caught wind of this whole thing, and in a story titled “Cocky Bruins announce playoff tix,” Don Brennan wrote:

“The race for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference is apparently over.

“The Senators have lost.

“At least, that’s the message being delivered by the Boston Bruins, who late Monday afternoon gave notice on Twitter that tickets for the B’s first round Stanley Cup playoff games go on sale Friday at 11 a.m.”

Nailed it.

Again, the Senators still are very much alive in the hunt for one of the two Eastern Conference wild-card spots. However, their fate — for the time being at least — is out of their hands. The Bruins hold a three-point advantage over Ottawa entering Tuesday night’s play, and the Senators have only one game in hand.
