The NCAA Tournament has been quite the educational experience for the Wisconsin basketball team.

After polishing off Coastal Carolina in their opening game of the tourney Friday, the Badgers had their minds absolutely blown by the stenographer sitting in the back of their postgame press conference. Three players in particular — Nigel Hayes, Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker — were fascinated by what the job entails, and they went out of their way to familiarize themselves with the process.

The Associated Press’s Dave Skretta has more, via ESPN.com:

“Then, with the interview room lights turned down and nearly deserted, the three came bouncing back through the curtains and posted up right behind the stenographer. Like a trio of schoolchildren, they started peppering the woman responsible for transcribing their quotes with questions about how stenography works. Then, they started punching the keys on her machine to see what they would produce.”

But Wisconsin’s love for the NCAA stenographer didn’t stop there. Hayes made her life a little more difficult at Saturday’s presser, showing off his impressive vocabulary in the process.

Hayes also made sure to applaud her for a job well done with a tweet that included a hashtag that might not trend anytime soon.

The Badgers will take on No. 8 Oregon on Sunday night, and here’s hoping their press conference makes us bust out the dictionary.
