Bill Belichick Ranked As Best General Manager In NFL After Super Bowl Win

Bill Belichick already is considered one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history, but his role as the New England Patriots’ general manager sometimes goes ignored.

Belichick ranked No. 1 in Rotoworld.com’s general manager rankings for the second consecutive year.

“If you don’t stay ahead of the curve in the salary-cap era NFL, you’re going to slam into it,” Rotoworld’s Patrick Daugherty wrote Tuesday. “No one understands this better than Belichick.”

Daugherty acknowledged Belichick’s weaknesses as a GM, which are fair: drafting cornerbacks and wide receivers. The Patriots are going into the 2015 NFL draft with a need at both positions.

Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster ranked last in Rotoworld’s rankings. Patriots arch enemy Ryan Grigson, the Indianapolis Colts’ GM, ranked No. 11.

Belichick built the 2014 Patriots through a combination of savvy draft picks, trades and veteran and undrafted free-agent signings. He proved this offseason that he’s unwilling to overpay any player by allowing cornerback Darrelle Revis and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork to walk in free agency.
