Apparently all this “Jon Lester has the yips” nonsense is much ado about nothing.

In the second inning of Sunday’s game against the San Diego Padres, Lester fielded a routine Clint Barmes grounder. When he tried to take the ball out of his glove and throw to first, though, the ball got stuck. So, Lester did the next best thing.

Looks fine to us. And, hey, at least he kept it in the infield this time.

We’re pretty sure we haven’t seen this move since Little League, but if it works for Lester, maybe he should keep it up. It’s certainly not the weirdest play we’ve ever seen.

Unfortunately, Lester’s glove-throwing efforts weren’t enough to prevent the Cubs from suffering a 5-2 loss.
