After trying to ignore the noise, Jon Lester has decided to face the music.

The Chicago Cubs pitcher hasn’t had the best start with his new ballclub. He’s allowed nine runs through 10.1 innings in his first two starts and recently had his alarming inability to throw to first base exposed to all of baseball.

Yet the Cubs’ comeback victory in Lester’s second start — in which he allowed six runs in six innings — had the former Boston Red Sox ace in a positive, reflective mood after the game.

Fortunately, all those Negative Nancies were balanced out by a throng of supporters who had Lester’s back.

Struggles aside, Lester just entered the dark depths of Twitter and came out alive, and that’s got to count for something.
