Liverpool’s relationship with Standard Chartered will continue toward the end of the decade.

Liverpool and Standard Chartered announced Tuesday they have extended their sponsorship agreement through May 2019, according to the club website. Standard Chartered has been Liverpool’s main sponsor since 2010 and the international banking group’s logo will remain on the front of Liverpool’s jerseys for years to come.

“This extension further demonstrates the great strength of our long-term relationship and the success of our partnership with Standard Chartered,” Liverpool’s chief commercial officer said. “The sponsorship of the Liverpool shirt is extremely prestigious and only five brands will have adorned the shirt in the 40 years since we created the sponsorship opportunity.

“At the end of this term we will have been working in partnership with Standard Chartered for almost a decade and we continue to collaborate on our shared values, passion and commitment to the community.”

Liverpool will continue to support some of Standard Chartered award-winning sustainability and community investment programs like the annual “Perfect Match” game.

Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre explained how Liverpool and Standard Chartered will continue to benefit from each others’ global reach.

Neither Liverpool nor Standard Chartered disclosed financial terms of the new agreement.
