It appears Brett Favre will have a prime-time number retirement ceremony.

Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy said last week that he asked the NFL for a special schedule request in regards to the ceremony, and now, the club reportedly will retire the former quarterback’s number on Thanksgiving night, sources told ESPN’s Rob Demovsky on Tuesday.

“First I’ve heard of it,” Favre said in a text message to ESPN.com. “But it doesn’t matter anyway as long as the fans are happy with it.”

Favre’s No. 4 actually will be retired officially at the Packers’ Hall of Fame ceremony July 18. However, Green Bay will put it on the Lambeau Field facade during the Nov. 26 game.

Demovsky also reported the Packers will take on the Chicago Bears in what would be just the second Thanksgiving game hosted at Lambeau.

UPDATE (9 p.m.): The NFL confirmed in its schedule release that the Packers and Bears will meet at Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving night. No official word on the Favre number retirement, though.
