One of Boston’s most prominent figures could join the bid to bring the 2024 Olympics to the city.

Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino is in talks with Boston 2024 about joining the bid committee, The Boston Globe reported Friday.

Two sources told The Globe that Lucchino potentially would take a senior role with the committee, and he’s already had conversations with both Boston mayor Marty Walsh and Boston 2024 chairman John Fish.

Lucchino confirmed in a conversation with The Globe that he’s had “a conversation or two” with those connected to bringing the Summer Games to the city. The Red Sox executive added he’s “a big supporter of the Olympic movement.”

It’s unclear how any of this would affect Lucchino’s role with the Red Sox.

Boston 2024 announced earlier this week that sports legends such as Larry Bird, David Ortiz, Jo Jo White and Michelle Kwan had been named to the board of directors.
