South Carolina running back Mike Davis reportedly showed enough at his pro day to warrant a meeting with the New England Patriots.

Davis has a workout or visit scheduled with the Patriots, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday. Davis ran his 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds at his pro day.

Davis is expected to be drafted in the third or fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft, according to The Sports Xchange. He ran a 4.61-second 40-yard dash with a 1.53-second 10-yard split at the NFL Scouting Combine. He ran a 7.00-second 3-cone drill and 4.18-second short shuttle.

The 5-foot-9, 217-pound running back rushed for 982 yards on 199 carries with nine touchdowns in 2014. He caught 32 passes for 368 yards with two touchdowns.

The Patriots could be looking toward the future by selecting a running back in the 2015 NFL draft. Starter LeGarrette Blount is set to become a free agent after the 2015 season.
