The Boston Red Sox dodged a bullet with one infielder, now they’ll hope to be as lucky with another.

Xander Bogaerts will be back in the Boston lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Washington Nationals as Boston looks for the series sweep. However, third baseman Pablo Sandoval will miss the finale. He left Tuesday’s game after being hit in the left foot with a pitch from Nats starter Stephen Strasburg.

The Red Sox also will be without David Ortiz on Wednesday. He’s getting the day off with Washington left-hander Gio Gonzalez on the mound. Allen Craig will make his second start of the season at first base, and Mike Napoli will handle the designated hitter duties.

Wade Miley will make his first home start for the Red Sox.
