In the least surprising news of the day, Mike Trout did something amazing.

The Angels outfielder saved his team with a leaping, over-the-shoulder catch with the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to help Los Angeles beat the Oakland Athletics 6-5 on Thursday.

The Angels entered the ninth inning with a 6-2 lead, but the A’s staged a three-run rally in the bottom of the frame to get back into the game. A’s first baseman Ike Davis appeared to complete the comeback for a brief moment when he launched a fly ball to deep center — and likely would have plated the winning run if anyone not named Mike Trout was manning center — but, of course, Trout made the impressive grab on the warning track to end the game.

Needless to say, Angels closer Huston Street was pumped to avoid a loss.

Oh, right, Trout also reached base four times in the win, going 2-for-3 with two walks.
