Pedro Alvarez did a little boating Tuesday night.

The Pittsburgh Pirates slugger has proved in recent years that when he gets a hold of one, he’ll send it a very long way. Well, he got a hold of one Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins, and the end result was a water landing of sorts.

Alvarez ripped a 471-foot solo home run in the fourth inning that, off the bat, looked like it would have a chance to clear the ballpark and splash down in the Allegheny River. The mammoth shot did indeed clear PNC Park, and it would have gotten wet except for one thing: the ball landed in a boat.

The moonshot actually landed on the fly in a boat docked along the wall and was quickly retrieved by an alert fan, who just happened to be walking around outside the stadium.
