Colts Put Up New Banner Because They Tried Hard Against Patriots (Photo)

This has to be a joke, right?

It’s one thing when 5-year-old kids get “participation” trophies or medals in their sports, even when the most participating they did was picking grass and squishing bugs in the outfield. It’s an entirely different thing when the Indianapolis Colts put up a participation banner in Lucas Oil Stadium after being laughed off the field in a 38-point AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots.

AFC Finalist? At this rate, the Carolina Panthers should put up a banner that says “We finished below .500 and still made the playoffs.”

This is the real world. Some people win, and some people lose. You don’t get a participation banner, trophy or medal for losing the game before the championship. You get a high five and a “good game.” That’s it.

Before angry Colts fans/Patriots haters read this, we know the Patriots also have a banner honoring their 16-0 2007 regular season. This also isn’t the first time the Colts — or other pro sports teams — have celebrated being the runner-up.

But at least the Patriots did something that no one ever had accomplished. There’s a loser in the AFC Championship Game every single year, and all this does is remind everyone that you lost.
