UPDATE (11:30 p.m. ET): Duncan Keith’s second-period goal proved to be the game-winner for the Chicago Blackhawks, who won their third Stanley Cup in six seasons by way of a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night.

Keith was awarded the prestigious Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the Stanley Cup playoffs by unanimous decision.

Patrick Kane scored the second and Cup-clinching goal in the third period of Game 6.

ORIGINAL STORY: Duncan Keith just keeps on grinding.

Arguably the best defenseman in the NHL just gave his Chicago Blackhawks the lead in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. Keith skated through a few defenders, let a shot fly on Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop  — who had been tremendous throughout Game 6 — and collected the ensuing juicy rebound to cue “Chelsea Dagger” at the United Center.

Chicago leads Tampa 3-2 in the series, and should Keith’s goal stand as the difference maker in Game 6, it’ll add to an already compelling case for the Conn Smythe Trophy being awarded to the Blackhawks’ alternate captain.
