Alex Rodriguez can’t escape the wrath of the haters, even when he makes history.

Notorious ballhawk Zack Hample became part of that history last Friday when he snagged the New York Yankees slugger’s 3,000th hit, a solo home run to right field.

Hample’s haul sparked a minor controversy about whether he’d keep the ball or return it to the Yankees and Rodriguez. The team reportedly is offering Hample several perks and a “sizable donation” to the charity of his choice, but as of Tuesday, the ballhawk had yet to budge.

In light of this contentious situation, Hample snuck in a jab at A-Rod and the Yankees on Tuesday night after Chase Headley hit his 100th career homer.

But Hample wasn’t done, sending out another trolling tweet suggesting he’s not parting with the historic baseball.

Hample finally backed off after that, insisting he’s still trying to work out a deal with the Yankees and extending a virtual olive branch to A-Rod on Twitter.

Either way, it appears Hample’s involvement in history has garnered him some extra fame. He recently snapped a selfie with former MLB player Eric Byrnes and even got a photo with actor Kevin Bacon, because why not?
