Jeremy Maclin might have received all of the praise for his incredible one-handed catch against the San Francisco 49ers last season, but then-Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles deserves some of the glory, too.

In Football by Football’s newest feature, “Inside the Play,” former NFL linebacker Matt Chatham broke down Foles’ pass that led to Maclin’s diving grab in Week 4, noting the precision and accuracy that led to one of the season’s greatest catches. The unbelievable play clocked in at No. 8 on the Football by Football staff’s list of the top 10 plays of 2014.

“What elevates the appreciation for this throw even more is it’s released before Maclin makes his inside juke and break to the corner,” Chatham writes. “The trust, timing, and placement on this throw is impeccable. You’d be hard-pressed to find a play that better illustrates the importance of time spent between quarterback and receiver repping throws over and over and over again. This kind of highlight play just doesn’t happen without the work behind the scenes.”
