John Cena (or at least his character) takes a lot of grief from the Internet wrestling community and “smart fans” for his gimmick and schtick.

He wins too much, he doesn’t sell opponents’ moves, and really, in the eyes of many, he has just become stale. However, he remains the face of the WWE empire, largely because of the work he does away from the ring and the impact he has on kids. The latest example came Monday night.

Cena cut an impassioned promo on his new rival, NXT champion Kevin Owens, during “Monday Night Raw,” and during that speech, he pointed out a young fan at ringside. The fan, decked out in Cena gear, was holding a sign that read “I’m beating cancer.” It was a nice moment, and Cena kept on with his in-ring work.

After the show, however, the United States champion sought out the youngster and invited the fan into the ring. What happened from there was pretty cool.

Cena has a reputation for going above and beyond when it comes to community work. In fact, he holds the Make-A-Wish “record,” granting more than 450 wishes during his career.
