This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, but it appears the NFL wasn’t totally blown away by Tom Brady’s testimony Tuesday.
The New England Patriots, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, was his own best ally at his suspension appeal hearing by giving “explanations in all areas,” but ProFootballTalk.com reported Wednesday that Brady’s performance wasn’t perfect.
A league source told PFT’s Mike Florio that “Brady simply reiterated his denial regarding any involvement or knowledge” in the Deflatgate controversy. Additionally, Florio wrote: “When pressed on certain facts relating to Brady’s potential knowledge or involvement, the answers were regarded by some in the room (i.e., some who aren’t paid to exonerate Brady) as not entirely credible.”
Also according to PFT, Brady’s main defense centered around attacking the Wells Report’s science.
Again, this shouldn’t be very surprising. Brady’s camp and the NFL obviously want to get their side of the story out there — at least to an extent, given any sort of confidentiality agreement — and those will be slanted sides to the story.
As has been the case with this entire saga, we’re left to just sit and wait for everything to be resolved.
