The PGA Champions Tour is coming to the Boston area, and there’s no shortage of, well, champions.

The PGA Tour’s senior circuit heads to Belmont Country Club in Belmont, Mass., for one of five yearly majors on the circuit. The tournament gets started Thursday afternoon at the Donald Ross model course just outside of Boston.

There will be no shortage of big-name talent taking aim at the winner’s share of $2.7 million. Among the 81-player field are five Hall of Famers: defending champion Bernhard Langer, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Sandy Lyle and Colin Montgomerie. Former PGA Tour Player of the Year Mark O’Meara, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame later this summer, also will be in the field.

Rhode Island natives Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon also are in the field. Additionally, longtime PGA Tour veterans like Fred Funk, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Tom Lehman, Mark Calcavecchia, Rocco Mediate, Kenny Perry and Hal Sutton are scheduled to be in attendance.
