Wes Welker is a 34-year-old free agent who has suffered multiple concussions. But he’s not ready to call it quits just yet.

The former New England Patriots wide receiver did a Boston media tour Tuesday morning, appearing on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher & Rich” radio show before stopping by WEEI’s “Middays With MFB.”

Always the entertaining guest, Welker once again denied rumors he’s retiring and said he’d be open to coming back to New England if the opportunity arose.

“I wouldn’t be opposed to it,” Welker told “Toucher & Rich,” via CBSBoston.com. “It’s a great organization, obviously, and a great team. It wouldn’t be the worst situation in the world.”

Welker and New England had a rather unceremonious split when the team declined to re-sign him in 2013, but the wide receiver told WEEI he doesn’t believe there’s “any hard feelings” from both parties.

The Patriots, of course, are dealing with their fair share of troubles in the ongoing Deflategate case. Welker defended Tom Brady, though, telling WEEI the incident only is a big deal because of Brady’s stature.

Welker spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos but failed to win a Super Bowl, while New England went on to win in 2014. Welker admitted he certainly thinks about his missed opportunity.

Welker managed just 464 receiving yards in 14 games with the Broncos last season, and it appears his playing days are all but over. Then again, the 5-foot-9 wideout has been counted out before.
