UPDATE (5:30 p.m. ET Wednesday): The Boston Celtics on Wednesday released their official summer league roster, with only one tweak made from the one reported Tuesday.

Celtics guard Chris Babb will not join the team in Utah and Las Vegas, while former Syracuse guard C.J. Fair will.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Boston Celtics begin summer league practice Wednesday, and we now have a good idea of the roster they’ll send to Las Vegas and Utah.

While several summer league participants have been known for weeks now, Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald shared over the weekend a list of 12 players who will attend:

Marcus Smart
James Young
Chris Babb
Terry Rozier
R.J. Hunter
Jordan Mickey
Marcus Thornton
Jonathan Holmes
Corey Walden
Malcolm Miller
Eric Buckner
Colton Iverson

Smart, Young and Babb all spent varying amounts of time with the big club last season, with Smart playing in 67 games for the Celtics and starting 38. Rozier, Hunter, Mickey and Thornton all were selected by the C’s in last week’s NBA draft.

Iverson was a 2013 draft pick of the Celtics and spent the last two seasons playing overseas (one in Turkey, one in Spain), and Holmes, Walden and Miller each visited Waltham for a pre-draft workout this spring. Buckner, who played his college ball at Georgia State, has played overseas since 2012.

The Celtics plan to employ a 13-man summer league roster, according to Murphy. Per multiple reports, that final slot will be filled by Baylor forward Royce O’Neale, who also visited the C’s last month.

Speaking with reporters on draft night, Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he expects plenty of competition among this year’s summer leaguers, especially in the backcourt.

“When (the rookies) see how hard Marcus and James and Babb go at summer league practice starting next week, it’s going to be real,” Stevens said. “That’s a positive thing.”
